Tomas Földes is an experimental physicist with a background in the field of laser spectroscopy and instrument development. He has a PhD in plasma physics from the Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia and more than 10 years of post-doctoral experience.

Over the years, he worked in five different countries mostly developing and building laser spectrometers.
