DAP2204: Laser countermeasures to combat ‘smart’ infrared imaging guided threats: [Laser Countermeasures IR]

In this project, we research methods and novel techniques to mitigate the impact of infrared imaging seekers on the effectiveness of laser-based infrared countermeasures. Our objectives are to determine experimentally those characteristics of the laser beam necessary to ensure successful countermeasure of an in-band thermal imager in the different threat scenarios. In addition, to develop novel countermeasures to mitigate an imaging seeker threat, especially one with advanced artificial intelligence and machine vision tracking algorithms.
